50% off pillow covers at Hobby Lobby!
Does anyone else hate spending money on throw pillows? They're decorative. They serve no purpose other than to look nice and provide a resting place for my animals (when I'm not watching). I've been looking to get different pillows for the living room for a while, but the prices haven't been right. I saw one for $50. Offensive. Anyway, I got two of these pillow covers today at Hobby Lobby for half off $7.99 each. I cut the existing covers off my old ones and zipped these on. Easier, cheaper, and less time consuming than sewing my own! Oh, and they're washable. There are many more colors, styles, and sizes, at a variety of prices. If you miss this sale, Hobby Lobby always has 40% off one regular priced item mobile coupons available for smart phones or to print at home.
The total came to $8.46 for the pair. What do you think?

Publix: Seven Ways to Save!

Today I will highlight seven ways you can maximize your savings at
Publix! I hope you learn a thing or two, and tell me
about the great deals you find the next time you shop. :)
1. BOGO sales: Publix lists many items as buy one, get one free, every
week. This means that you can use coupons on the item you are buying
AND the item you are getting for free. For example, if Dial body wash is
normally $3.83, but is on sale as BOGO this week, use 2 $2/1
manufacture coupons (NLA, sorry!), and get them both for free!
2. Digital coupons: Download the Publix app on your smartphone and choose manufacture coupons to be attached to your phone number. Type your phone number into the keypad before paying, and watch your total drop! Publix recently announced that they will begin to customize their digital coupons to individual users. I haven't seen it yet, but supposedly you will see coupon offers based off what you buy.
5. Missed coupons: If you left some coupons at home, bring your receipt back later or the next day, and customer service will reimburse you.
6. Rain checks: If an on sale item is out of stock, Publix will write you a rain check so you can take advantage of the sale even after it ends.
7. Baby Club and Publix Paws: Sign up for these free savings clubs online or in the store. I still get baby club coupons 19 months after having my baby!
I also appreciate the free cookie and ballon for kids, excellent customer service, and online deli ordering at Publix. :). Check out their official Publix coupon policy, as well as a picture of my mom and daughter enjoying a shopping trip: :)
Come back for breakdowns of my own shopping trips so you can get the same deals I do. Maybe I'll throw in a video tutorial now and then... :)
Happy saving!

9.21.14 Part II: Clearance Target table and shampoo!
Did I mention in the last post that the TABLE in the picture was part of the $21 total? It was, and we got it at Target! Here is the breakdown:
Target:
Buy 6 Herbal Essence shampoo/conditioners.
Use 3 BOGO manufacture coupons from SS 9/14 (smart source insert).
4 were $2.50 each and 2 were $2.99 each.
To use the $5/$20 hair care purchase mobile coupon or newspaper coupon from this week's Target add, we had to spend another $4.02 before coupons. We got hairspray that Ivy needed at $3.99 and it worked even though we were $.03 off.
The table was an impulse buy from the clearance section in the back of the store. It originally cost $49.99. It was 70% off for $14.98, and we scanned a 20% off cartwheel offer on my phone, making the table a whopping $11.98! Here is a picture of the table in it's new home in Ivy's apartment:
She bought some shoes for $19.99, used the Target redcard to save an additional 5%, and paid $33.10 for it all! :) We (I) felt like coupon rock stars after that haul. Happy savings!

9.21: All of this for less than $21! Part 1: CVS!!
My amazing sister Ivy agreed to let me find deals for her! She has a pretty busy work schedule and isn't able to clip and plan like I can, so I buy stuff that I know she uses at a super low price, and she pays me what I spend. It's win win because I LOVE finding deals, but I only have so much space in my house for it all. And seeing her face when I tell her that she only owes me under $21 for all this is pretty rewarding. :) So how did I do it? How can YOU do it? The breakdown for my CVS purchase is below. Check back for additional posts about the Target and Publix purchases from the photo. :)
CVS:
Transaction #1:
Loreal Paris shampoo and conditioner is on sale for 2/$9, get $5 back in extrabucks rewards when you buy 2.
Buy 2, use 1 $4/2 from RP (RedPlum coupon insert booklet) from 9/14.
Pay $5, get back $5 in extrabucks.
This makes each bottle FREE!
Starbucks Refresher Drink is $1.50, get $1.50 back in extrabucks rewards.
Use $1/1 printable: $1.00/1 – Starbucks Refreshers Beverage, 12 oz (starbucksrefreshers.com)
Use 20% off one full price item email coupon (tell the cashier you want to use it when you send it to your card or print it from your email).
Pay $.20, get $1.50 back in rewards. You technically made $1.30! Complete your transaction and use the overage to help pay for the detergent. :)
Transaction 2:
Arm and Hammer laundry detergent is on sale for $7.74: Buy one, get 2 free (yes, 2!)
Use 3 $2/2 MQ (manufacture coupons) found in SS (SmartSource) 9.14.14.
Buy 6 and pay $9.48, making each bottle $1.58.
Use the rewards from your first transaction so you don't have to keep track of them!
CVS total: $ 8.18 for 9 items!
Happy Shopping!

Was that too many exclamation marks? Saving money makes me excited!!! :) Anyway, check back, ask questions, and save money on items you already buy. It's addicting. You have been warned.
